this 4th generation weaving mill in the shizuoka prefecture is specialised in ultra-high density fabrics.

their creations include papery typewriters, dry gabardines and shiny oxford fabrics.
mainly woven on vintage shuttle looms, using highly twisted yarns.

their artisanal and labour-intensive approach means that certain fabrics can take up to 9 months to produce.

this dedicated and focused way of working is immediately visible upon entering the weaving mill.
here, one person pulls all the warp threads by hand before the weaving process.

this allows for a meditative start before getting lost in the noisy and rhythmic beauty of the old looms.
